What the extension collects
Nothing, by default. Fixnote is a browser extension that runs entirely on your computer. The notes you write, the screenshots you capture, the page addresses, and the element details are stored in your browser’s local extension storage until you download a report or clear the session. Fixnote operates no servers that receive, store, or process the content of the pages you use it on.
Why it asks to “read and change data on all websites”
Fixnote draws its note cards and capture tools on top of whatever page you are looking at, which requires this permission in Chrome. The extension stays inactive on a tab until you click its icon, use its context menu, or press one of its keyboard shortcuts. It does not read or transmit page content on its own.
The one network request
If you activate a Pro license key, the extension sends that key to our payment provider, Polar (polar.sh), to confirm it is valid, and repeats that check at most once a day. The request contains the key and nothing else: no page content, no notes, no browsing history.
Payments
Purchases are processed by Polar, which acts as the merchant of record. Polar collects your email address and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive your email address and purchase status so we can support you. We never see your card number.
